Why Choose Our Timber Decking Joists?

Starting your base correctly is essential when it comes to building a decking project from the ground up, with our FSC Certified timber joists able to do the job perfectly. Used in conjunction with our timber posts, you will be able to create a sturdy base and supporting frame using timber decking joists.

Joist Length: 4.2m and 4.8m

Joist Width: 150mm

Joist Depth: 47mm

Each joist weighs approximately 18.6kg (4.2m) and 20.5kg (4.8m)

Our timber decking joists are high-pressure green treated with Tanalith ‘E’ preservative and are graded C24 for strength, meaning efficient structural performance. Produced from responsibly sourced wood, our timber joists are long-lasting and able to withstand the elements all year round.

Great Deck Building With Our Timber Joists

Our timber decking joists are available in both 4.2m and 4.8m in length, weighing 18.6kg and 20.5 kgs respectively. The 150mm timber decking joist is slightly wider than our 100mm timber joist, giving two options when considering creating your structural base.

We recommend using our timber joists on a solid concrete base to ensure they are as steady as possible. Consult our easy to use installation guides for further help and best practice techniques. We have trims and fixings available also to assist you with easy installation also.

Timber C24 and C16, what are the differences?

Timber are often classed into numbers. C24 Timber and C16 Timber are both varieties of Softwood lumber. The C numbers represent how fast the wood was removed from a developing Softwood tree.

Timber (C16) extracted from a tree which has developed at an accelerated pace, compared to standard trees. Thanks to this process of forced growth, the C16 timber often has an increased number of knots throughout the wood. Opposed to the gradually grown timber.

Having the timber grown at an increased rate with more knots throughout can result in a lighter, therefore weaker wood. The C24 graded timbre Is a more durable timber, taken from a tree which has been allowed to grow at a natural slower pace than the C16 timber.

Trees which are given a prolonged amount of time to grow, will always be stronger, denser and more durable than wood which has had their growth time quickened.

C16 timber is generally 50% weaken than C24 timber.
