It’s a question we are occasionally asked… what can I do with the bits of composite decking I have left over? Well there are many options when thinking of what to do with it, you can of course take it to the recycling centre but where’s the fun in that?
As Cladco Composite Decking is made from recycled fibres and sustainably sourced FSC wood, we always advise to use as much as the product as possible to avoid wastage. The best way to do this is to use the offcuts to make planters. Cladco Composite Decking isn’t designed to be used as a planter so you will need to ensure the plants inside are in their own pot as this will prevent too much moisture absorbing into the decking. If you are wanting to plant the plants straight in you will need to line the planter and ensure no moisture can escape.*

Another alternative with the composite decking is to create additional storage, such as a box storage or simply somewhere to hide the garden tools behind.

You can of course make much smaller versions of these, a tiny planter can make a great talking piece on the decking. Or what about using the decking boards as chunky coasters outside? That way no one will be putting a hot cup on your fresh new decking area.
How about creating a feature? This customer has created a channel with the decking and filled it with white stone chippings and integrated light system.
By adding the border, it creates an individualism to the decking and breaks up the brown colours between the decking and brick wall.
Offcuts can be used to create a door to hide the outside drainage, not only does this make it easy should you need to reach them it also is a nice way to hide something behind.
